Ill Wind is a coalition of concerned citizens challenging the placement of large industrial wind turbines in residential neighborhoods of Charlestown, Rhode Island. Federal and state tax subsidies have made wind energy a rapidly growing industry with little regard for environmental or economic impact in residential communities across our state. Most wind energy research is sponsored by institutions and businesses that have a direct financial interest in large scale development of wind energy projects and ignore problems associated with wind turbines. Much of the information presented to the general public is biased. State and local governments are just beginning to understand the complex issues that must be addressed through legislation to protect property rights and quality of life in residential communities. Our web site seeks to provide Charlestown’s citizens with balanced information concerning the appropriate development of wind energy resources. We invite others to join us as we strive to keep up with the fastest growing sector of alternative energy choices. Please check the local news page for updates.
